Privacy and messaging

Plain English, because a policy nobody reads protects nobody. This covers what we collect, why we have it, and how to make us stop.

What we collect, and only when you hand it over

If you join the VIP Club we collect your first name, and whichever of your email address and mobile number you give us. Your birth month and day are optional and exist only so we can send you something on your birthday.

If you send us a catering or event inquiry we collect your name, email, phone if you provide it, and whatever you write in the message.

We record the page you came from and any campaign tags on the link, so we can tell which of our own marketing is working. We do not build a profile of you across other websites.

Consent is per channel, and we keep the receipt

Email and text are two separate permissions and you grant them separately. Neither is ticked by default.

When you give either one, we record the date, the page, and the exact sentence you agreed to. That record exists to protect you as much as us.

Text messaging terms

If you opt in to texts you will receive a handful of messages a month about offers, new items, and hours. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply.

Reply STOP to any message to opt out and you will get one confirmation and nothing after that. Reply HELP for help, or call the shop.

We do not sell or share your mobile number with anyone for their own marketing. Carriers and our messaging provider handle delivery and nothing else.

How to leave

Every email has an unsubscribe link in the footer that works immediately and does not require you to log in to anything.

For texts, reply STOP. To have your record deleted entirely rather than just silenced, email us and we will remove it.

Who else touches your information

Our point of sale provider handles payments and the in-store rewards program, and their own privacy policy governs that. Our online ordering runs on the same platform.

Our website analytics is Google Analytics. It counts visits and tells us which pages are used. It does not know who you are unless you sign up for something and tell us. We also use an email delivery service and, where you have opted in, a text messaging service.

We also run Google Ads to promote the shop. When you click one of our ads and then visit the site, Google records that click so we can see which ads bring people in. This uses a small cookie in your browser that only exists to measure our own ads. It does not follow you to other sites we do not run, and we do not sell or share this information.

You can turn off ad personalization at google.com/settings/ads at any time. You can also use a browser that blocks cookies. The site will still work.

We do not sell your information. We do not trade it. Nobody is buying a list from us because there is no list for sale.

How long we keep it

VIP Club records stay until you ask us to remove them. Inquiry records stay while they are useful for the conversation and then get archived.

If you want a copy of what we hold, or you want it gone, email us and say so plainly. We will do it.

Cookies, in one paragraph

The site uses small text files called cookies for three things: keeping you signed in if you have a login here, measuring our own website analytics, and measuring how our ads perform. That is the whole list. Ordering and payment happen on our ordering platform, which sets its own cookies under its own policy. Your browser lets you clear or block them at any time, and the site will still work if you do.

Reaching a person about this

Email Buzzacafe@gmail.com or call the shop and ask. A person handles it. There is no privacy department, which is the advantage of dealing with an independent business.
